Finally, wagyu beef!

After being disappointed at Absinthe, I was so pleased to find wagyu beef on the set dinner menu for Restaurant Week at Table 66 that I was willing to overlook that it was a minute steak, i.e. thinly sliced steak seared on the grill for about a minute. I like my meat thick and juicy, but sometimes you just gotta accept what’s offered, eh? Hmm that sounded wrong. Anyway, I’m jumping too far ahead of myself.

Long Phung Vietnamese Restaurant

I’ve been getting a lot of massages lately.

A friend has recently been doing some research on spas in Singapore, so I gamely volunteered to help out with the “legwork”.

As I’m sure you all know, going to the spa is a thankless task and bloody hard work. *ahem* Certainly enough to build up a bear-sized appetite. Yet, after being thoroughly kneaded and scrubbed from head to toe, I was loathe to besmirch my squeaky clean self with oily greasy fare.

4-Bean Chili Con Carne

Bear likes beans.

I’ve recently discovered how yummy beans are. Since I’ve started trying to decrease my carbohydrate intake and increasing protein, I’ve begun experimenting with a variety of canned beans. Being a bean virgin, I’m sticking to canned for now, but will venture on to dried beans once I figure out an easy way to prepare them.

It’s bean (hehe) commonly said that there are as many chili recipes as there are cooks. This recipe is my take on the ubiquitous Spanish stew.
